More Environment-Friendly - Improved Installation Features - Higher Ratings and Performance
GUTEX is a leader in environment–friendly manufacturing, utilising innovative technologies that conserve resources and make the manufacture of single-ply insulation boards with clear quality advantages in up to 240 mm thickness reality. You too can benefit!
Biologically harmless!
All fibre insulation boards manufactured using GUTEX's innovative dry process are subject to the strict certification standards of natureplus® , the recognised seal of quality for ecological, healthy, environment-friendly and optimally functional building products. According to Öko-Test, a German consumer magazine for ecological products, natureplus® is the only quality seal for insulation products that is “really helpful”! (Issue: “Ratgeber Bauen, Wohnen & Renovieren 2009”)
Environment-friendly manufacturing!
Dry process manufactured insulation boards require 40% less energy and carbon dioxide emission to produce than wet manufactured boards.
Fewer additives!
Compared to insulation boards manufactured with conventional wet processes, GUTEX's dry manufactured insulation has minimum additives. This is demonstrated below using sarking as an example:
- Dry process:
- 4 % polyurethane resin binding agent
- 1.5 % paraffin for hydrophobic fibreboard
- 94.5 % wood
- Wet process:
- 4 % white glue for the lamination of the various plies in a single board
- 2 % paraffin for hydrophobic fibreboard
- 5 % latex is added to sarking and plaster baseboard to improve strength
- 89 % wood
No breaking, chipping or loss of individual plies!
The new insulation boards have a single-ply, homogenous construction and come in up to 240 mm thickness! Since there is only one ply, there is no danger that individual plies can break off during or after installation!
When used to retrofit the interior of outer walls, the single-ply boards install with adhesive instead of mechanical fasteners!
Moreover, the new boards manufactured using the dry process have drastically higher dimensional stability than their conventional counterparts (reduced deformation due to contraction, swelling and creeping).
Tightly jointed installation!
In contrast to wet process manufactured boards, dry manufactured insulation offers higher dimensional consistency. Since the boards’ thickness, length and width are more constant, the fibreboards install without any open joints!
Reduced installation time!
Insulation of up to 240 mm thickness installs on roofs in a single step. Since the sarking fits perfectly, there is no need to hammer the boards together with a wood block. These installation features add up, cutting time and costs by 50%!
Increased strength with reduced bulk density!
In spite of their lower bulk density (50 % less), the insulation boards manufactured with the dry process have better lambda values than conventionally manufactured boards!
Now, even more vapour diffuse!
With a µ-value of 3, the new GUTEX boards feature nearly double the amount of water vapour permeability offered by boards manufactured in conventional wet processes. The result is the significantly improved transfer of humidity, and condensation-free structures..
Superior quality and functional reliability!
GUTEX is the first manufacturer to have its thermal composite system with single-ply single-board insulation in up to 160 mm thickness approved for installation over both wood and mineral substrates by the German building materials and physics-testing agency.
GUTEX is certified by many building authorities and testing institutes for fire resistance and soundproofing of roof, wall and floor constructions. You will find countless suggestions for refurbishment and improvement with U-value and phase displacement information at www.gutex.de.
In addition to the constant quality control performed at the plant, all GUTEX insulation boards are subject to regular inspection by officially recognised independent testing and certification facilities.
