Environmental Compatibility
…means for GUTEX sustainable, ecological practices and responsibility to humankind and nature. GUTEX products and manufacturing processes are developed with an uncompromising commitment to environmental preservation.
- The raw material for all GUTEX insulation boards comes solely from wood that is harvested and grown using sustained forestry management practices (PEFC and FSC). GUTEX exclusively uses untreated chips and shavings from spruce and fir, which are by-products obtained from other timber manufacturing processes.
- The sawmills from which GUTEX obtains its chips and shavings are all located near its plant, translating into less pollution and consumption of fuel thanks to reduced transport distances.
- When a tree burns or decomposes, it releases the same amount of CO² into the environment as it had assimilated during its lifespan. GUTEX boards are manufactured from untreated wood chips and shavings and therefore do not increase the level of CO² gas in the atmosphere when they decompose or burn.
- The new drying stage of the manufacturing line utilizes an innovative, environment-friendly technology, which requires 40% less energy than the conventional wet process for each metric tonne!
- Reduced amounts of additives are used in both manufacturing procedures! Just 4% polyurethane resin is added as a binding agent in the dry process. 3% white glue for the lamination of layers and approx. 5% latex to increase the strength are added in the wet process. Paraffin is used in both processes for hydrophobisation.
- Since all GUTEX insulation boards contain absolutely no harmful additives, they can be used without reservation in construction. All GUTEX insulation boards carry the natureplus© seal of quality. natureplus©, an international quality designation for ecological home and construction products, indicates products that have been tested for potential health hazards, environmental impact and function!
- In 1995, GUTEX introduced an integrated environmental management system pursuant to DIN EN ISO 9001, DIN EN ISO 14001 and EMAS II (EU environmental audit directive). The system is periodically recertified. Practicing environmental management is a vital component of the company’s environmental policy.
